Just Guess is a calorie guessing game in the browser: a real photo of a dish, a cash register keypad, and one question. How many calories are on this plate? After five dishes you get a waiter's bill with every miss circled in red, and send it to a friend: same dishes, their turn.
Why a game and not a table
Most people misjudge the calories in the food they know best. A restaurant plate of hummus is about 625 calories, a Greek salad only 300, and a falafel plate nearly 900. A game teaches it the memorable way: miss once and you remember. Each answer also comes with an everyday yardstick, such as minutes of walking or cucumbers.
60 dishes, 11 languages
- A home kitchen for every language: Hebrew opens with shakshuka or rugelach, Arabic with mansaf or kunafa, Greek with moussaka, Hungarian with lángos.
- An answer page per dish: "how many calories are in shakshuka", with the portion weight, half and double portions and the value per 100 g. 660 pages in all.
- Challenge a friend: the shared link opens the same five dishes, with your score to beat.
Want to know without guessing?
That is what Maazan (project page) does: photograph the plate and the app reads the calories and protein, in Hebrew and free. The download button checks the language and the phone: Hebrew speakers go to Maazan, Arabic speakers to the Arabic version, and every other language to Balanza. On a computer it opens the app's website, on a phone the right store.
Built for AI agents too
Every dish is available as open data, there is an llms.txt map for agents, and every page has a plain text twin, so assistants like ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity and Grok can read, cite and recommend it.
